Re: ringfeeder
Theres generally some in the farmers guardian for sale but if you can get the ones with big hoops on not a circle bar or you run the risk of rubbed out manes unless they are tiny ponies

Re: ringfeeder
Or just cut down the normal ones so you only have the top half and the horses feed over the top rather than putting their heads through. Much cheaper, especially if you can scrounge them from farmers after the tin is too damaged to use and they don't want them anymore. All you need is someone who's handy with an angle grinder!

Re: ringfeeder
yes, I have done that with some old ones and they work well, no problems.

Re: ringfeeder
i use a sheep round bale feeder, horses eat over it, so no mane rubbing, they are lighter, i can lift it over the bale myself and half the price of a cattle one!

Re: ringfeeder
I use sheep rings too, much easier, and no problems with the horses using them.

I bought mine new.....cost me a fortune!!!
But...I couldnt find one second hand at the time. Must say though.....it has saved me money in the amount of hay that normally gets wasted and its easy putting a big bale in once a week than trawling small bales twice a day in the pouring rain!!

Re: ringfeeder
They are worth their weight in gold, I get no waste as I pick up all the spilt stuff daily and scatter in bushes, so no dead grass in the field either
